Bridgette Stewart

Bridgette Stewart has a distinguished career in higher education, having held various roles throughout her professional journey. Currently, she serves as the inaugural Chief Wellness Officer at the University of West Georgia. Prior to this appointment, she was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sport Management, Wellness, and Physical Education, a position she held since 2003. Ms. Stewart continues to teach part-time in the Master of Science in Integrative Health and Wellness program.
Additionally, she is the former Program Coordinator for the Health and Community Wellness undergraduate degree program and currently serves as the Director of the Center for Integrative Wellness and the Wolf Wellness Lab at the University of West Georgia.
Ms. Stewart has an established leadership role in the wellness community. She has served on the Board of Directors for the National Wellness Institute (NWI), Georgia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance and chaired the Council for Wellness Certification Excellence for the National Wellness Institute, where she was instrumental in the development of the nation's first core competencies for wellness professionals and the Certified Wellness Practitioner credential. In recognition of her contributions to the field, she was inducted into the National Wellness Institute's Circle of Leadership in June 2018. Under her leadership, the University of West Georgia received the same distinction in 2023.
Ms. Stewart holds multiple health and wellness certifications and specialized training, including:
National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), QPR Instructor, Mental Health First Aid Instructor, BLS Instructor-Trainer through the American Heart Association, Certified Wellness Practitioner (NWI), Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist (NWI), Lifestyle Coach for the CDC's National Diabetes Prevention Program, Certified Sports Nutrition Coach (in progress)
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Bridgette enjoys spending time with her two children, Alex and CiCi, and playing golf with family and friends.
