Regional Coalition: Resilient Northeast Georgia

Mission & Broad Goals
Resilient Northeast Georgia seeks to increase community understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and advocate for prevention and mitigation within Northeast Georgia. Additionally, training focuses on parental support, including foster parents, community sector training for first responders, teachers, and direct service organizations. Resilient Northeast is strategically building upon work that has already begun in the community, focusing on teen populations for positive youth development, including the continuum of family preservation services. Evidence-based practice and program development are being utilized to bolster efforts to keep children out of the foster system, prevent trauma, and foster a resilient Northeast Georgia community.

Resilient Northeast Georgia aims to address childhood adversity, health, and well-being throughout its 13 counties through:

  1. Targeting residential programming within Foster Care, Independent Living (ILP), Transitional Living (TLP), and Family Housing

  2. Providing skill training, coaching, and therapeutic care with Healthy Families America (HFA), Positive Parenting Program (Triple P), and Functional Family Therapy (FFT)

  3. Assessing ACEs and community health on the county-level

  4. Reaching teens through a justice-based model that recognizes structural racism, utilizing prevention science

  5. Focusing on rural counties in Northeast Georgia that have increased in access to community supports like mental and behavioral health care
