Mental Health Resources for People with Disabilities
Resource Connection and Support.

Individuals with disabilities, either physical, sensory, or cognitive, report higher rates of mental health problems compared to the rest of the population. Those with disabilities face many barriers to mental healthcare. People with disabilities often face challenges like physical barriers, and negative stereotypes. A significant barrier for adults with disabilities is in access to healthcare due to high costs, as this population is more likely to live below the federal poverty line. Additionally, individuals with disabilities experience abuse and neglect at higher rates than others. The culmination of these barriers makes individuals with disabilities particularly vulnerable to developing mental health issues.
There are a variety of organizations nationally that provide quality mental health resources for people with disabilities. This page offers a selection of resources created for improving the mental health and wellbeing of individuals with disabilities.
