Resilient Georgia announces the launch of Resilient South Central Georgia, a new regional coalition dedicated to advancing trauma-informed care, resilience building, and behavioral health support across several South Georgia counties. Resilient South Central Georgia will work collaboratively throughout Appling, Candler, Emanuel, Evans, Jeff Davis, Johnson, Tattnall, Toombs, and Wayne Counties to promote well-being for children, youth, families, and entire communities.
Resilient South Central Georgia joins a growing statewide network of regional coalitions working together to build a stronger, more resilient Georgia, prioritizing cross-sector collaboration, education, ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) awareness, and prevention strategies that support positive health and developmental outcomes.
“The launch of Resilient South Central Georgia marks an important milestone in expanding access to trauma-informed practices and resilience-building resources across rural regions of our state,” said Emily Anne Vall, Ph.D., Executive Director of Resilient Georgia. “By uniting local leaders and organizations, this coalition will help ensure that families in South Central Georgia have increased access to the education, support, and connections they need to thrive.”
Leadership for Resilient South Central Georgia includes dedicated community champions who represent a diverse range of sectors, including education, health care, nonprofit services, social support systems, and civic leadership.
Becky Anderson, Family Connection Coordinator, Tattnall County Public Schools
Olivia Hiers Davis, Program Coordinator, Share Health Southeast Georgia
Sunny Rogers, Community Support Specialist, Georgia Family Connection Partnership
“Through collaboration, shared learning, and coordinated action, we can make meaningful progress toward healthier, more resilient communities,” said Becky Anderson, Family Connection Coordinator, Tattnall County Public Schools. “Resilient South Central Georgia is a platform where our collective strengths can produce sustainable change for children and families across the region.”
Since launching earlier this year, Resilient South Central Georgia hosted its Youth Advisory Council Summit in Vidalia, bringing students together for a day of leadership, service, and growth. This experience empowers youth to step beyond the classroom to build leadership skills, strengthen their voices, and engage meaningfully in their communities—laying the foundation for positive outcomes across the region.
Resilient South Central Georgia will continue to focus on strengthening community resilience by:
Advancing trauma-informed and resilience-centered initiatives in schools, health care systems, and community organizations;
Facilitating cross-sector collaboration among public and private partners;
Expanding access to education, training, and prevention resources that support behavioral health and family well-being; Supporting community members with tools to recognize, prevent, and respond to childhood adversity and its long-term effects.
Resilient South Central Georgia joins 19 regional coalitions across the state, each aligned with Resilient Georgia’s mission to integrate trauma-informed care and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) awareness into every Georgia community by 2030.
