Regional Coalition: Resilient Gwinnett

Mission & Broad Goals

Resilient Gwinnett was formed by the Gwinnett Coalition, a 30-year-old non-profit organization in one of the fastest-growing and most diverse counties in the country. Many families in the Gwinnett County face language and cultural barriers, and 15.1% of children aged 18 and younger live in poverty. Children living in environments such as these are more vulnerable to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which can be detrimental to long-term health.

Thus, Resilient Gwinnett’s goals are:

  • Building capacity by creating a common understanding of ACEs, by training practitioners, community leaders, and members of the community

  • Increasing community awareness by defining “trauma-informed,” providing toolkits for organizational use, and utilizing communications tools to create public awareness

  • Influencing systems of change by engaging key stakeholders and influencers that move Gwinnett County toward becoming a trauma-informed community
