Regional Coalition: Resilient Southwest Georgia (Thomasville)
Mission & Broad Goals
The Thomasville region, like many rural areas, is more affected by health disparities and poverty than other parts of the state, due to having less access to resources.
Thus, Resilient Southwest Georgia/The Vashti Center Coalition aims to increase awareness of health disparities and provide needed resources to integrate trauma-informed care, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) education, resiliency, and mental health first aid across youth-serving organizations by:
-
Evaluating ongoing programs for effectiveness and creating progress indicators toward the ultimate goal of reducing child abuse and neglect
-
Increasing family mental health well-being through trauma-informed training for all school personnel
-
Disseminating and amplifying best practices in addressing issues concerning educational attainment and economic development
-
Collaborating with community partners and youth-serving organizations to offer a robust catalog of professional development opportunities and training on trauma informed care, youth mental health first aid, child abuse and prevention, and ACEs
