Regional Coalition: Resilient Southwest Georgia (Thomasville)

Mission & Broad Goals

Resilient Southwest Georgia (Thomasville), like many rural areas, is more affected by health disparities and poverty compared to the state, with fewer resources. Therefore, the coalition, led by The Vashti Center, aims to increase awareness of health disparities and provide needed resources to integrate trauma-informed care, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) education, resiliency, and mental health first aid across youth-serving organizations.

The Resilient SWGA (Thomasville) coalition focuses on evidence-based efforts in their region with the goal of:

  • Promoting trauma-focused trainings and building a common language around trauma across different sectors in the region to raise awareness of children’s mental health

  • Advocating for change through a Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) lens

  • Evaluating ongoing programs for effectiveness with the ultimate goal of reducing child abuse and neglect to create a sustainable model change

  • Advancing and developing the workforce through collaboration with community partners and youth-serving organizations to offer a robust catalog of professional development opportunities and training on trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, child abuse prevention, and adverse childhood experiences

Coalition Geographic Service Area:

Brooks, Colquitt, Decatur, Early, Grady, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole, Thomas
